Our Story
Positive Testimony was born from our personal journey through infertility.
We are Zach and Kalin Hinojos. In 2021, after six months of trying to conceive, Kalin began to sense that infertility might be part of our story. By 2022, after a full year of trying naturally, we began fertility medications, hoping that would be enough. When it was not, we moved forward with two rounds of IUI, both unsuccessful. After switching doctors, we began IVF.
The process was heavy emotionally, physically, financially, and spiritually. We believed God had given us a promise of biological children, yet each setback tested our faith. In May 2023, we experienced our first IVF embryo transfer, which failed. Shortly after, Kalin required surgery, followed by a second embryo transfer in December 2023.
That transfer was successful, and in 2024, we welcomed our first child, a miracle we attribute fully to God’s grace.
Altogether, our infertility journey cost approximately $40,000, including medications, IUIs, IVF, surgery, and medical procedures. Beyond the financial weight, infertility taught us a difficult truth. There is no way to work harder for a child. You cannot earn parenthood through effort, discipline, or doing everything right. This journey requires surrender and trusting God when outcomes are completely out of your control.
During treatment, we felt a growing call to help other families walking through infertility. At the time, the timing did not feel right. But as we now walk through IVF again, we knew we did not want to wait until we were fully on the other side. We chose to officially launch Positive Testimony while still in the battle, because we wanted to support others even as we continue to trust God with our own story.
The name Positive Testimony carries a double meaning. We believe God can turn every situation, even the darkest seasons, into a positive testimony. For anyone facing infertility, the deepest longing is often for a positive pregnancy test. This journey tests faith, but it also refines it.
Our sunflower logo represents a moment that marked our journey. While we were in the midst of infertility, a pastor once gave us a packet of sunflower seeds and encouraged us to plant them in faith, reminding us that our miracle was coming. That simple act became a symbol of believing before seeing.
Romans 4:18 describes this posture of faith. “Against all odds, when it looked hopeless, Abraham believed the promise and expected God to fulfill it.” TPT
Our hope is that families feel loved, supported, and truly seen. Infertility can make people feel forgotten, purposeless, or as though God is blessing everyone else but them. Our heart is to remind families that God has not overlooked them and that their story still matters.
Positive Testimony exists to provide financial support and Christian guidance to families battling infertility, offering hope while pointing them to a faithful God even in the waiting.
Our vision is that, over the next 10 years, we will help 1,000 families cover infertility treatments and grow their families.
